Convention of Warmia and Mazury Women’s Centers

International Forum for Women in Olsztyn organised the first Voivodship Convention of Women Centers, which aimed at integrating women’s movement in Warmia and Mazury, activating the centres with the view of facilitating the effects of unemployment and preventing pathology within a family and community as well as cooperation. The Convention also aimed at forming a federation of women’s centres, which would be able to build a network of quick, Internet communication among organisations. The network should provide information on current training offers, tips on how to successfully apply for aid funds and exchange of experience.
The programme included the following presentations:
- Katarzyna Radecka from Warsaw, a leader of an informal group „Women Too” ("Kobiety Też")- "Selfgovernmental Election – an Opportunity for Women who Support One Another"
- Danuta Piontek, President of Polish Entrepreneurs Confederation - "Women–Entrepreneurs versus European Union"
- Maria Skurpska, Director of Voivod Jobcentre in Olsztyn - "Labour Market for Women in the Warmińsko-Mazurskie Voivodship. Can Women help themselves?"
- OŚKA's activities - "Ośrodek Informacji Środowisk Kobiecych" (National Women’s Information Center)
- Halina Kustosz, Editor-in-Chief of Polish Internet Service Kobiety OnLine - "The Internet – an Opportunity for Unemployed Women" (a project financed by the American Embassy)
- Presentation of the invited women’s organisations from the whole voivodship
Patronage over the convention: Governor of Warmińsko-Mazurski Voivodship and the President of the City of Olsztyn.
