Anna Maria Karolak

IFW is a patron of young female artists aiding them in their promotion and coming into being on a difficult art market.

In 2004 we became a patron of a young female painter - Anna Maria Karolak. During the meeting of International Forum for Women in December, held in InterContinental hotel this amazingly talented artist presented some of her works. Those were paintings created in the oleoresinous technique, including one in a unique gum tempera technique.

Anna Maria Karolak is a graduate of the Graphic Art Faculty of Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts. She obtained her diploma in 2000 in Professor Janusz Stanny's laboratory in the Faculty of Painting and the Faculty of Conservation and Restoration of Works of Arts in Warsaw, obtaining education, among others, in the scope of the medieval painting technology and gold plating techniques.

Anna Maria Karolak's artistic output can be included in the trend called fantasy realism. Worlds shown on her paintings and graphics are rich in symbols, elements taken from dreams and psychoanalysis references. The artist is inspired by mythology and symbolism.

Currently the artist has been working on a cycle of paintings touching upon a problem of spiritual condition of a contemporary man in times of religions, philosophy and science confrontations. The collection is to be composed of two parts: "The Man and the Myth; the Man and the Tradition" and "Man on the Threshold of the New Millennium; Man in the Era of the Space Conquest". This collection will be exhibited towards to end of 2005. To contact the artist: akarolak_art@o2.pl
