Financing Small and Medium Innovative Companies by Venture Capital in Poland 2000

Organisers of the seminar: European Economic Commission of United Nations, Polish Foundation for the Promotion and Development of Small and Medium Enterprises, International Forum for Women, Warsaw School of Economics and Evip - Group of Advisory Companies. Among the participants there were investing companies like venture capital as well as representatives of small and medium companies looking for investment capital.
At the seminar the participants shared views on the necessity of removing one of the major factors restraining SME development, i.e. the lack of investment capital. They also presented achievements and development plans of companies providing Internet services, producing medical equipment, construction sector, leather and food sectors, and artistic craftsmanship. The participating companies were provided by a financial institution with some information on the conditions for presenting their business plans to venture capital companies.
There are plans to continue the above initiative in the form of an annual meeting as well as an idea of a training focusing on financial issues for businesswomen in the countries undergoing transformation.
The organisers of the Seminar decided to organise, within the frames of Central European Initiative activity, an International Conference: "Venture Capital for SME".
